Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut (2,700 meters):
Your adventure begins with an early morning departure from Moshi, a charming town at the base of Kilimanjaro. Our experienced guide will meet you at your accommodation and transport you to the Marangu Gate, the starting point for your day hike.

After a short briefing and registration at the gate, you’ll commence the trek through a lush rainforest. The well-marked trail leads you to Mandara Hut, a rustic but comfortable resting place for weary trekkers. Along the way, you’ll likely spot unique flora and fauna, adding to the magic of the journey. Enjoy a packed lunch at Mandara Hut, allowing you to refuel and appreciate the stunning surroundings. It’s an excellent opportunity to rest and take in the pristine beauty of the rainforest.
If time will be on our side, we will have another 30 mins of trek from Mandara Hut to Maundi Crater. Upon reaching the Maundi Crater, you will be greeted with an awe-inspiring panoramic view of the surrounding landscapes, including the picturesque Amboseli plains of Kenya and the enchanting Moshi town. The lush greenery within the crater, comprising a mix of exotic trees and vibrant wildflowers, creates a mesmerizing backdrop for trekkers and nature enthusiasts alike.
Later in the afternoon your descent will begin, retracing the same path you took earlier in the day. The return journey provides a different perspective of the forest and landscape, as the angle of the sun changes. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife sightings and unique plant species.
You’ll arrive back at the Marangu Gate, where a vehicle will be waiting to collect you and transfer you to Moshi.
